Connect CRE: Next Gen Canadian Awards 2025 winner - Tunde Akinyemi

Tunde Akinyemi, Vice President and Associate Portfolio Manager at BGO, has been recognized as one of Connect CRE Canada's 2025 Next Generation Award winners. In his role, Akinyemi plays a pivotal part in managing one of Canada's leading diversified core real estate funds, overseeing its analytical and quantitative needs, and contributing to its strategic direction. He was instrumental in repositioning the fund by adjusting property type allocations to enhance performance, diversify sectors, and optimize risk-adjusted returns. Additionally, Akinyemi facilitated a significant investor partnership with one of Canada's largest banks, bolstering the fund's visibility and distribution strategy.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Akinyemi leads BGO's Black Professionals Alliance, an Employee Resource Group dedicated to fostering career development and mentorship opportunities. He also mentors junior analysts and interns within the Portfolio and Investments teams and contributes to the firm's Artificial Intelligence Task Force. Externally, Akinyemi is involved with Advancing YU, a York University initiative that supports mentorship for Black and female students.
